Today marks the 50th anniversary of the 1963 March on Washington where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his celebrated ‘I Have a Dream’ address in front of thousands on the National Mall! Dr. Kings speech marked a crucial turning point in the American Civil Rights movement and united our country in the quest for racial equality. In his speech Dr. King urged Americans to let freedom ring “…from the prodigious hilltops of New Hampshire.” His words have resounded throughout the years reminding us of our duty and commitment for racial justice and non-violence. Today, people from the top of Mount Washington to the Plymouth State University Rounds Tower (and the entire country!) are going to unite to celebrate the Civil Rights leader’s vision by ringing bells at 3 p.m. (What?! SO AMAZING!) Isn’t unity just the best?!?
