Hawaii
*Seniors*
Hawaii is home to the longest continuously erupting volcano in recorded history!!! Kilauea Caldera on the Big Island has been producing a continuous  lava flow since January 1983!
(other fun facts: Hawaii is the only state in the nation that grows coffee, has tropical rainforests, and is made completely of island! Only two types of mammals are native to Hawaii: the hoary bat and the monk seal! Hawaii is the most isolated population center on Earth. It is 2,390 miles (3,846 km) from California, 3,850 miles (6,196 km) from Japan and 4,900 miles (7,886 km) from China.!)

Texas
*Freshmen*
High school students in Texas have developed a tradition of wearing super, crazy, elaborate, ever-larger floral pins to their homecoming dances. These pins — many bigger than a dinner plate (whoa!) and covered in artificial flowers, ribbons, and even stuffed animals — are known as mums. They must be panting like a lizard on a hot rock after all that work (that was Texas speak btw!)
