Oh Nose! It’s Friday the 13th!!!


1. Sometimes it happens more than once a year but this year we only have to live through two! While some years are more lucky than others in terms of the number of Friday the 13th dates, it is impossible for a year to go by without having at least one Friday the 13th!

2. There are several phobias related to Friday the 13th! Paraskevidekatriaphobia is the “official” name of those who have a phobia of the holiday and a phobia of the number 13 is called triskaidekaphobia!

3. Many skyscrapers do not  have a thirteenth floor. The number 13 may be skipped in the list of levels, the floor may be referred to as 12A or M, the thirteenth letter of the alphabet , or the floor could be closed off from the public by designating it a mechanical floor.

4. The Knights of Templar were wiped out by King Philip of France on Friday, Oct. 13, 1307.

5. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would never have a 13th guest at a meal, nor would he travel on the 13th day of any month.

6. Thirteen is the 6th smallest prime number, the second Wilson prime, and the fifth Mersenne prime exponent. It is also the atomic number of aluminum.

7. A U.S. 1 Dollar note has: 13 levels of the truncated pyramid, 13 letters in “E Pluribus Unum”, which appears in the banner running through the eagle’s beak on the right side of the bill’s reverse, 13 letters in the phrase “Annuit Coeptis”, which appears over the pyramid on the left side of the bill’s reverse, 13 stars above the Eagle, 13 leaves on the olive branch, 13 olives on the olive branch, 13 arrows held by the Eagle, and 13 bars on the shield.
