Oh Nose! It’s Friday the 13th!!!

1. While some years are more lucky than others in terms of the number of Friday the 13th dates, it is impossible for a year to go by without having at least one Friday the 13th! This school year we have to live though 2 (the next one is in April)!

2. There are several phobias related to Friday the 13th! Paraskevidekatriaphobia is the “official” name of those who have a phobia of the holiday and a phobia of the number 13 is called triskaidekaphobia!

3. Many skyscrapers do not  have a thirteenth floor. The number 13 may be skipped in the list of levels, the floor may be referred to as 12A or M, the thirteenth letter of the alphabet , or the floor could be closed off from the public by designating it a mechanical floor.

4. The Knights of Templar were wiped out by King Philip of France on Friday, Oct. 13, 1307.

5. President Franklin D. Roosevelt would never have a 13th guest at a meal, nor would he travel on the 13th day of any month.

“Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never find out.”

~Frank A. Clark

Today is National Do Something Nice Day (one of the best days of the year)!  Doing something nice for someone almost always evokes a very pleasant response. At the very least, it results in a smile. And, best of all, doing something nice just might be contagious!

In keeping with the spirit of this day, set a goal to do something nice for someone (make them a card, tell them they are amazing, hold the door for someone, be encouraging, say thank you, be understanding…).

Remember to let others know you are on a mission to spread kindness and they will be inspired to do the same!

Today also happens to be WORLD TEACHERS’ DAY!!! Coincidence, we think not! Show your teachers how much you care today!
