WELCOME BACK! We hope that you enjoyed a wonderful vacation!

Today is National Bird Day (TWEET! Say what)?!? National Bird Day is a day to celebrate our amazing feathered friends! Birds are one of the only wild creatures that humans encounter on a daily basis (crazy, right?!) So break out the binoculars, check out some field guides and start observing (you can start right now with the crows in the parking lot or the seagulls flying around the football field)!

Check out these incredible flip books! Artist Juan Fontanive constructs perpetually looping flip book machines that depict flying birds taken from old Audubon Guides and amazing illustrations of butterflies. Part film and part sculpture, almost every aspect of the flip books are assembled by hand from the tiny toothed gears, clips, nuts, bolts, wormwheels and sprockets to the carefully screen printed imagery. You can see more of his amazing work over at Riflemaker.
